Based in Concord, the state's capital and political hub, NHPR's newsroom, digital team, and original programs consistently earn national recognition for their in-depth reporting and production. News Internship, All Things Considered

The News Intern All Things Considered works directly with the local host of All Things Considered to produce a daily afternoon news program. You will generate ideas for stories and interviews both in the studio and in the field, book guests, research and write scripts, edit recorded interviews, and prepare those stories and interviews for publication on our website, NHPR.org. You will actively participate in our newsroom's daily editorial meetings, learn the various types of reporting we do as well as how to produce a news story, journalistic ethics, and best practices.

News Internship - Reporting

The News Intern will be brought into the middle of the news gathering at NHPR. You will take part in our editorial meetings, learn the various types of reporting we do, and learn how to produce a news story. You will be expected to pick up journalistic ethics and best practices and you will spend a fair amount of time away from the station, reporting stories.   In addition to producing radio you will also work with the digital department as we present our news on our website and on social media. You will work regular hours and need to have a reliable car.

Production Internship, Word of Mouth

The Production Intern with Word of Mouth has the opportunity to play an integral role on the team that produces this multi-segmented program. Each episode of the show includes a mix of interviews and features, many of which are investigations of questions submitted by listeners to our "Only in New Hampshire" series. The intern's tasks and opportunities will be varied and challenging, and will be designed to offer a meaningful experience as a public radio producer. They will work with producers to find good stories; pre-interview potential guests; assist with field recordings; and determine how best to tell stories for broadcast. They will also work on our digital platforms to engage with the audience through social media and share stories on our website.

We are looking for candidates with excellent writing skills, a strong interest in news and public policy, the ability to work independently and efficiently, an interest in public media, strong attention to detail, initiative, and curiosity. All internships start in June and last ten weeks.

Please indicate which internships you would like to be considered for in your cover letter. We would be pleased to work with you to get college credit if your school allows.
