NHPR is seeking candidates for full-time, paid summer internships to work at our state-of-the-art broadcast facility in Concord, New Hampshire. NHPR is New Hampshire's independent and trusted source for news and information, and the state's largest radio news service. Based in Concord, the state's capital and political hub, NHPR's newsroom, digital team, and original programs consistently earn national recognition for their in-depth reporting and production. Production Internship, Creative Production Unit

The intern with the Creative Production Unit has the opportunity to play an integral role on the team that produces several podcasts and broadcast shows. Our shows include Civics 101, a podcast refresher on how our government works; the environmental show Outside/In; and the listener question-based Second Greatest Show on Earth.  The intern's tasks and opportunities will be varied and challenging, and will be designed to offer a meaningful experience as a public radio producer. They will work with producers to find good stories; learn how to shape show pitches; learn to pre-interview potential guests; assist with field recordings; and determine how best to tell stories for broadcast. They will also work on our digital platforms to engage with the audience through social media and share stories on our website.

We are looking for candidates with excellent writing skills, a strong interest in news, the ability to work independently, an interest in public media, strong attention to detail, and initiative, but most importantly curiosity and a willingness to learn.  The internship starts in June and lasts ten weeks.

Application Process

We are offering two other internships: News, All Things Considered and News, Reporter.  If you would like to be considered for more than one internship please indicate which ones you would like to be considered for in your cover letter. We would be pleased to work with you to get college credit if your school allows.

We are committed to equal employment opportunity and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age, religion, veteran status, disability or any other characteristic protected by law.
